Jones uses football to explore fashion’s cerebral side. He’s taken the sport’s traditional garments — the short, jersey and pre-match jacket — and reworked them in new cuts that change how the proportions of the body appear. Giving nod to the heyday of London’s Kings Road, Jones clashes avant garde tailoring with sport tech. “That whole punk era was all about proportions that gave power to the wearer. I was inspired by the idea of DIY of the time — cutting up and putting things back together — to create something new,” says Jones. That idea, which informs the process and aesthetic of the garments in Jones’ collection, also transfers to the shoe he designed. A hybrid of his favored sneakers, it may require a double take to spot the references. But Jones is confident in its stance. “I was looking at the silhouette of the Mercurial along with my three favorite Nike shoes: The Footscape, the Vandal and the Air Max 97. Martine’s community, Steve, Tesfa, A$AP Eva and Suraya became our stockists.&nbsp;They seeded links in the comments sections of articles on Hypebeast and Reddit. Starting your journey in a thread, then moving on to Craigslist, you could never be sure if any of it was for real. You’d have to just click respond, write an email, and wait… It was these ‘stockists’ who would respond to your email. You could haggle about the price, and decide on a&nbsp; meeting place. Maybe in a pie and mash shop. Maybe at a tube station. Maybe there would be ferrets. started with the simple question - “What if you could extend the air bubble into the upper of the shoe?” There the concept of ‘Air Everywhere’ was born. Based on that idea, we took inspiration from Heron’s 360° of air, and brought that throughout the campaign. We took the audience behind the scenes to see everything in and around the campaign. Using 360° cameras, timelapse video of the set build and behind the design interviews, we left nothing hidden. We let people into the process, celebrating the possibility everywhere.The campaign was capped off with a two day Nike By You event at Milano Salone del Mobile, hosted by Heron himself. Here people got to work with the materials in-hand and design their very own AirMax 95 or 720 with the HP palette. Since then, its founder has helped create a community on and off the pitch. "Football has the power to unite people". Those are the words of Bobby Kasanga, the founder of Hackney Wick F.C., a football club in London. And it's a sentiment proved time and again in cities and communities all over the world: Football can make a difference.But it doesn't happen overnight. It happens because of people like Bobby, who spent years making his dream a reality. After being released from prison in 2015, Bobby wanted to change his life and his community, which had been marked by both gang violence and gentrification. So, he decided to found Hackney Wick F.C., going door to door to raise money from the neighbourhood.
